It doesn’t take long to see why Dan Trejo is the Division Manager of Direct Sales at Har-Bro Emergency Service and Restoration, the West Coast’s premiere restoration expert for commercial real estate. When Dan talks about the work his company crafts alongside the LAFD, the pride and enthusiasm in his voice is unmistakable: “When the firefighters are done, we try to help rebuild what was destroyed. We’re right there working hand in hand.”
And as the Widows, Orphans & Disabled Firemen’s Fund can attest, their hand-in-hand commitment doesn’t end with the reconstruction side of the business. Har-Bro has been a sponsor of the Hope for Firefighters fundraiser for 6 years. In 2013, the company decided to extend their generosity and sponsor the LAFD Invitational golf tournament as well. “A good friend, Michael Camello, recommended the charity golf tournament to us and we gave it a try,” explains Dan. “We liked it so much, now we want to do it every year!”
Going above and beyond has been a part of Har-Bro’s company culture ever since it was founded by Harold Brown in 1961. “A lot of our competitors are true ambulance chasers. They do the bare minimum. Not us. We do everything we can to respect and connect with the firefighters,” Dan continues. “We have a 24-hour dispatch center, so if you need any kind of title searches, owner contact info, you name it, we can get it to you right away. We get calls around the clock, and a live person is there to answer your call, not a machine or service.”
Although specializing in fire repair and restoration, Har-Bro also rebuilds after flood and environmental disasters. The company has no problem expanding its scope and recognizing where its services are needed most. “We shifted gears about 15 years ago. We try to assist the victims directly, not just help the insurance companies survey the scene and retrieve estimates,” says the 16-year company veteran.
Perhaps it’s the attention to customer service that sets Har-Bro apart. Maybe it’s their dedicated manpower and top-of-the-line equipment that gives them an extra edge. Either way, Dan is certain it all adds up to making a difference in the lives of those who’ve endured great loss through severe circumstances. “Our goal is to represent support for the fire department and be a positive force in the industry,” beams Dan. “We’re very keen to give back when we can. So we love working with the charity. It means a lot to us and we’re here to help.”
