Dressed in their forest green uniforms, about 100 students packed the gymnasium of South Boston Catholic Academy Friday morning, cheering as they welcomed home twin brothers Martin and Matthew Mullen — South Boston natives turned Los Angeles firefighters — who last month were on the front lines of the devastating wildfires that ravaged Southern California.
Members of the academy’s student council presented the brothers with a $5,000 check for the Los Angeles Fire Department, money raised by students and their families to support firefighters whose homes had been damaged or destroyed by the blaze.
