The annual Lane Kemper Softball Classic charity tournament attracts more than 600 L.A. City firefighters and 300-400 spectators.
The event is named in honor of Captain Lane Kemper (1952-2006), a man who embodied the true spirit of camaraderie and devoted himself to helping others. As a tribute to him, our firefighters have come together to carry on this long-standing tradition, which raises money for the Widows, Orphans & Disabled Firefighter’s Fund. Here’s how his friend Firefighter III Jim Stiglich described Lane and the event.
While only firefighters can play, you can still help:
- Become a sponsor of the event! For more information and sponsorship levels, contact Judson Ream at judson.ream@lacity.org
- Donate auction and raffle items such as event tickets, electronics, getaway packages or collectibles by contacting Valerie Lawrence at (818) 424-5974.
Your generosity helps provide support to firefighters and their families in times of crisis.
