LAFD Firefighter Kelly Wong

Our deepest condolences to the family of LAFD Firefighter Kelly Wong, and to all of our firefighter family as we mourn the loss of one of our own.

The LAFD reports Firefighter Wong, 29, fell from an aerial ladder while participating in a training exercise in Downtown Los Angeles on Saturday, June 3. He passed away at the hospital early Monday morning.

According to the LAFD, Firefighter Wong graduated from the Recruit Academy in August 2015, earning accolades as the top academic performer in his class. He Wong is survived by his wife Danielle, his infant son Colton, his mother Ann, his mother-in-law and father-in-law Barbara and Michael Quinlan and his sisters-in-law Nicole and Stephanie.

LAFD Chief Ralph Terrazas, Los Angeles City Mayor Eric Garcetti and others paid tribute to Firefighter Wong on official city websites as well as in this Los Angeles Times article.
