Dr. Doug Larson discovered the Widows, Orphans & Disabled Firemen’s Fund after receiving a fundraising event invitation from a business associate. Thinking it was a great cause, he decided to get involved as a sponsor of the 2014 LAFD Invitational golf tournament.
He said, “Firefighters protect us and inspire us to protect others as well, they are known for generosity, courage and fun.”
As a psychologist with more than 25 years of experience creating medical-legal evaluations, Larson offers psych testing and evaluations, forensics, research and therapy. He embarked on this unique career because of a desire to help others. He said, “I enjoyed trying to help and understand people trying to use the latest science.” He has offices all over Southern California and his site includes a video blog covering topics his clientele find informative.
His connection to the firefighter community is both personal and professional. “My wife’s a trauma nurse and firefighters are critical,” he said. And in his line of work, he often interacts with public safety personnel.
Sponsoring the LAFD Invitational, one of the largest fundraising events of the year, gave him the opportunity to show support for the firefighting community and do some networking on the fairway as well. Though, according to him, “Arnold Palmer can still out-drive me.”
